For copyediting and proofreading you can trust, contact me. For four decades, I have been working as an editor helping to make manuscripts and books be the best they can be. I take great pride in doing excellent work delivered back to you on time.

Copyediting
Services include:

• working in your Word document with track changes on so you can see all changes and agree or disagree as you please, OR working on the hard copy of your document and using standard proofreading marks.
• checking for correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• making your document readable by reading for clarity and consistency.
• using the house style guide for your publisher (if you have one) and/or the Chicago Manual of Style.
• looking up all Bible references and quotations (if applicable).
• creating a style sheet to go with your document (if applicable).
• placing style tags on electronic documents (if you publisher would like that).

I take great pride in my work and want to help your project be the best it can be. I generally charge $12/page for copyediting. A “page” is double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins. However, I always like to see a few pages of a project first, discuss the project with you, and come up with a price for the project that works for both of us.

Proofreading
Services include:

• working on your electronic Word document, a PDF, or hard copy to mark all changes. If electronic Word document, I will use track changes so you can see all corrections. If PDF, I will use the marking features. If hard copy, I will use standard proofreading marks.
• marking spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
• marking typographical errors (if typeset pages), and checking for font consistency, bad breaks, and stacks.
• looking for correspondence between footnote sigla and footnote (or endnote) citations.
• checking for correct formatting of citations for footnotes/endnotes and bibliographies.

In addition, I have worked for many years proofreading PDFs of books, so if you’ve got a self-published full book, I have a 30-point checklist that I use with books (including checking folios, font consistency, Table of Contents titles and page numbers, etc.). This has been my bread-and-butter for many years, and you can trust that I know what I’m doing.

My pricing generally falls in the $10/page range for proofreading. Again, as noted above, I like to see at least a few pages of the project first, discuss it with you, and come up with a price for the project that works for both of us.
